We asked the principal to explain the very low test scores for Black students compared to the rest of the student body. He seriously addressed our question. Of course he said it wasn't racial bias but other issues. That said we haven't had any problems in the school or with our DD's education.
Our school had a diverse racial population and kept stats on how many calls and e-mails went out to parents/caretakers to discuss behavioral or academic concerns and were not responded to. They also kept stats on pTA attention, volunteering, parent conference rsvp or attendance, etc. And on wellness checks for absent kids by the police or social workers.
