I have used the Suave Clarifying (blue bottle) for years and that's the only thing that works for me. You do have to use conditioner on the ends with it. Definitely avoid anything creamy.

Aside from a different shampoo and good hair washing techniques, she also needs to blow dry her hair. At least the roots until they are fully dry. For teens with oily scalps, the older woman’s approach of skipping a day and using dry shampoo may not work. The hormone faucet for teens is on full blast and not as easy to control the oil production.

OMG! I loved Prell and Finesse. I had really oily hair until I hit menopause. Dry shampoos were only marginally helpful and I still couldn't was my hair any less than every other day. I hadcexcellent products, just a really oily scalp. Post menopausal, I can easily go 3 days without washing it and don't even need dry shampoo. Some people just have oily hair.

I have fine, oily hair. Agree with the recommendations for anything with tea tree oil (it’s actually astringent, not oily — works great on pimples, too, as it has antibacterial properties BTW). Don’t wash more than every other day, only condition the ends of your hair, and DRY SHAMPOO is your friend. Batiste works fine.

Clay based shampoo is the only thing that worked for my oily headed kid. L’Oréal has one.

My greasy haired kid uses Head and Shoulders 2in1. It leaves his rock-n-roll hair looking good and keeps the scaly scalp under control. Now if only I could get him to shave.

Neutrogena T/Sal, but not daily.
Try one of those scalp scrubby things.
Use a leave in conditioner so her scalp doesn't overproduce oil.

Clarifying shampoo is only meant to be used once a week. You destroy your hair using it multiple times a week. I agree on the tea tree recommendations.

Does your daughter know how to wash her hair well? Double shampoo before using a conditioner on the ends (if she even needs that)? Are you sure she’s getting all the soap out? Depending on her hair type, you need to lift your hair up section by section to get in and scrub the scalp and then rinse section by section as well.

Anything with tea tree oil. Believe it or not, I use the Trader Joe's version. I swear it works as well as the more expensive ones.

It’s probably greasy from over washing… have you tried washing less often?

Is Johnson’s baby shampoo still a thing?

It’s the best for oily hair.

If not try a cheap clarifying shampoo.

DD12 is having a tough time. We’ve tried everything. Silicone free. Sulfate free. No difference. Even clarifying shampoo isn’t cutting it (leaves it dull and dry). Anyone have any good recommendations for greasy/oily hair?
