Our preschool dropped masks when MCPS did. They also recently stopped closing classrooms for 5-10 days when a students down with COVID. Other kids can continue to attend, provided they don't have symptoms, although they try to get the kids to wear masks for 10 days.

Preschool mask wearing is pretty pointless, though, so they don't attempt to force it.

I would vote for 1, and kids are subject to testing if there are symptoms.

My preschool (which is also daycare if that's relevant) has the official policy of 4, but they do not make a strong effort to enforce it so in practice it's a lot more like 1.

(My preference would be 5, but that's because I think fresh air is good for kids, not because of Covid.)

I would love option 1. Unfortunately we are going to move out of the DMV to find that, it seems. So excited to leave this place!

OP here! It’s real. It’s a cooperative-style school, which is why decisions are left up to the parents. We have a meeting coming up to discuss, and I want to gather as much insight into the situation as possible.

2 year olds are at a disadvantage when it comes to masks. The benefits do not outweigh the risk. None of them wear a mask properly anyways. If they required masks, I’d find a new school.

This is so stupid to base a mask policy based off parents feelings rather than science. Be prepared for 6, that is a possibility. Seriously, that's an option for 2 YEAR OLDS??? OP give us the name so we can shame them for this nonsense.

My son’s new preschool is letting the parents set the masking/Covid protocols for the upcoming year. I’d love to hear what’s happening in your preschools. For reference, this is in DC for 2-3 year olds. Just facts, please. I have my own very strong opinions, but don’t want this turning into a heated argument like some other threads

Options:
1) Masks optional, no testing required
2) Masks optional, weekly testing required
3) Masks required, indoors only
4) Masks required, indoors and outdoors
5) Masks optional, school is held outdoors rain or shine
6) Masks required, outdoor school only
