Fights there are known for drunkenness. Then you have gambling, strippers.

Why would you choose that location for a family vacation???

4 minutes would be enough time there for me.

Doing the Grand Canyon as a day trip from Vegas sounds absolutely awful.

I wouldn’t do south rim as a day trip, but maybe west rim. We just did Las Vegas. Mandalay Bay was nice and the kids loved the lazy River. New York New York was fun, too and more central-ish. I’ve stayed at Flamingo before and I love it but I was under the impression that the main pool is off limits to kids (it’s like a party pool) so I would check that before hand. They do have a water slide that’s fun (used to anyway) and a “family pool” but not sure how big it is.

I wouldn't do a day trip to the GC because of the heat. I would drive to the GC the night before, get up early, do my GC hike (below the rim) and then take in whatever else I want to see, and then head back to LV.

Also, if you drive up the night before, you can see the stars.

Omegamart looks fun. My kids would enjoy that. I think between a show, pool, Grand Canyon, omegamart and the hello kitty cafe, we will have a great trip.

Which hotels are more family friendly?

All my trips to Vegas have been long weekends. The last trips I have gone I stayed at Aria and Cosmo. I see there is a new Resort World. If it were a decade ago, I would have picked Bellagio. Wonder if it is dated now. A bit overwhelmed with too many good choices.

I have done the Grand Canyon previously with my parents but we drove up from Scottsdale. I remember staying at a hotel super close to the Grand Canyon but it was old and crappy.

We’re going Wednesday to kick off a Utah trip. Staying 2 nights in Vegas. Mandalay Bay came highly recommended for families but I ultimately settled on the Flamingo due to its location- no more than a half mile walk to most of the things my kids would want to see. Since we’re going in July, minimizing long treks along the strip was my focus. For OmegaMart we’ll Uber over and then one night we’re eating at a pizza place near the downtown Container Park where they do a little show with the giant metal praying mantis shooting fire along to rock music lolol.

If you are doing it in limited amount of time like a 4 day weekend I would do West Rim. It is closer, you can do the skywalk and a mule tour. If you go that route book soon since Labor Day is a big weekend there. I would totally dismiss South Rim due to crowds on a holiday weekend. North Rim isn't as developed but just as lovely as South.

We could split the hotel up and spend a night by the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon is about a 4-hour drive from LV. A really long day trip, but possible if you're willing to be in the car all day. But - take a look at flight times. Many many flights from LV to DC leave late afternoon/evening and get back either late at night or as a really short redeye.

We drove to Grand Canyon on our second to last day midday, spent the night nearby, hiked the canyon the morning of our last day, and then left GC around 3pm or so to drive back to LV. Took a redeye that left Vegas at midnight. It was a REALLY long day (and I definitely wouldn't send my kids to school the next day), but was great timing-wise to see both.

We would fly in Thursday and fly out Monday. I’m thinking 1 or 2 shows, swimming at the pool, spa (for me), nice brunch and day trip to Grand Canyon. I think I’m going to do it!

I have wanted to do this trip for a while. My kids have a 4 day weekend (Labor Day).

Would this be enough time to go?

We could fly into Vegas and do a day trip to the Grand Canyon.
