We have one for the basement that you can pull out to sleep on from Bobs discount.

Its literally the most comfortable sectional we have ever purchased and the kids love it.

My lazyboy sectional is fabulous.

We have a sectional in our family room. We got it because it suits the layout of the room -- sitting on the sectional, I can look out the windows or at the fireplace or watch TV. We have a much more handsome sofa in the living room -- beautiful lines and upholstery and it's just as comfortable. We bought both pieces when we moved back into our house after a major renovation. At the time I thought "I can't wait for the kids to grow up so we can get rid of this clunky sectional and get a proper sofa for the family room -- something like the lovely one we have in the living room." Now the kids are grown up . . . and I love the sectional . . . it's comfortable and cozy and relaxing and never shows a single stain. If we downsize, I'm getting a smaller version of it. Do you think one of the kids would like the sofa from the living room?

We have a plush, incredibly comfortable one in our family room. Everyone loves it. We purchased a modular one we could design to fit the available space perfectly, and can accommodate guests comfortably as well.

I'm sitting on my Gus modular sectional now. We love it and plan to get another when it's time. It's super comfy. We love to pile on it for movie night.

I have a super comfy one from Bassett. I think they are great for family rooms but not living rooms. It can be super awkward to entertain on a sectional with everyone smushed together

We have sectionals in both our family room and basement. They are both really comfortable and maximize the available seating in the rooms.

Isn't this ALL about maximizing the amount of seating in a space? Sectionals are great for that.

We had one for years and loved it. Then we moved to a place that had a huge living room. We were able to fit one sofa and two love seats in a "U" formation with an end table at all ends. That added more seating and more versatility....

They are comfortable! We used to have a corner sectional when my kids were young. We got rid of it when they were 9 and 11, figuring we'll have a "nice" grown up living room.

Fast forward to now, my kids are 20 and 22, and they still ask me why I got rid of the sectional, where both of them could stretch out and still have place for other people to sit. They each swear they'll get a sectional in their homes.

It was kinda ugly, though.

Just get what's comfortable for you and your family and fits your space. I don't like the way they lock your furniture into an arrangement.

I have a fantastic sectional from Arhaus. Everyone loves it. It's also very pretty. It was expensive but worth it.

I don’t think they’re always uncomfortable (especially when they’re ugly), they give you more seating options when you’re deciding where to sit, and some spaces are awkward and sectionals take up the right amount of space in the right place. I have never had one but sometimes I am in a space with one and I’m like “wow, so many places I could sit!”

But yeah, I’d never get one. The biggest reason is that you’re pretty limited in how the room is set up when you have a sectional. I like couches and arm chairs, obviously, plus ottomans and big cushions you can sit or lay on.

Yeah definitely, you could get a regular sofa or a chair or a loveseat or a bench or just like a mat on the floor. Really whatever you want to park your butt on instead of a sectional is allowed.
