DP.

Even people I know who live on slopes (away from house) have sump pumps. Worst case scenario, it doesn't get used.

Best case scenario, it saves you from flooding.

But if you had water in the basement, I do not understand why a company would "recommend against" one, unless they wanted to sell you other things that costed more. OP I'd put that company on blast here, because they sound inept--at best.

Sounds like a dishonest company. I hope you left them a bad review.

That’s a very high price for an ineffective solution. You need to follow up with them.

I think you need to look into a sump pump. Use a different company!!!! I also would have the new company examine the French drain and waterproofing to make sure they were done correctly. Are you still under a warranty (if they offered one on their work) with the first company?

How is it coming in? Through an outside door or some other way?

You need a sump pump. Mine has been going off regularly over the last 24 hours. I say this as someone who did all you mentioned and still got water. Not a drop since. We used desert dry waterproofing. I have no connection to them other than found them honest. It was around 8k

What did your waterproofing company say was the issue? You check gutters, drains regularly?

+1 We need more information.

This is why homes have French drains and sump pumps.

Groundwater exists. It’s a thing. You either remove it, or you get a flooded basement.

Anyone else? It happens 1-2 a year. We have all tile floors and just sop it up. We have done the landscaping, waterproofing etc and it just happens. Suggestions other than moving?
