Well the shooting in Arlington, VA, occurred in the Green Valley neighborhood. The area has been called Green Valley for decades but the civic association decided to formalize it in 2019 by changing the name of its civic association from "Nauck," a confederate soldier to "Green Valley." So even if you change the name, the old habits remain.

I googled a shooting I read about in Arlington on this website and guess what? It was hard to figure out because there were shootings in America in two other Arlingtons THAT DAY. One in Indiana, one in Ohio. One of them was in an Arlington neighborhood, the other a street.

This is where we are, people. If we are going to insist that everybody have a gun we at least need to get more creative about place names…
