Ensure, ice cream, flan, yogurt, soups, timbales, grits, many types of fish, cold smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, saag — are all things that might work, either as is, or with a few seconds with a stick blender. (Foods that worked for me when I briefly had dental issues.)

Here are a couple of options that I saw online that might be worth checking out.

OP - I sent meals from this kid focused meal delivery service to my elderly grandma and mother during COVID when it was hard for them to get to the grocery store. You can order the meals where everything is in bite-sized pieces (click on finger food) AND they have smoothies...

1. Any ideas for meal delivery that would fit this bill? Would love high calorie, high protein options.

2. Any cookbooks for soft eating? It seems like she is going to have a long road before her teeth are figured out. She has always loved food and cooking and this has been quite upsetting.

I don't have any suggestions for delivery services - I only want to second that she will need soft foods and that even unlikely foods can cause a problem. A few months ago while we were out of town one of my molars split entirely in half at breakfast, leaving a huge hole in my gum line. We were out of town and heading home the next day, and the hole wasn't horribly painful, so I decided to wait it out. Lunch was fine. I pretty much ate on the other side of my mouth. I had a hotdog and some soft steak fries. Dinner, however? I made a major mistake. I ordered a chicken and rice soup. One of the pieces of rice must have been too al dente because I took a slurp, the piece of rice hit my missing tooth area and my husband said that my head pretty much exploded. And he is right. I saw stars. It hurt so badly that I literally couldn't breath or move for a minute. So make sure that the foods are really soft while those gums are healing.

My thoughts on food items: cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, pastas that have been cooked long enough to be super soft, ice cream, cream cheese, things like that. No rice or anything little.

Hugs to your mom.
