Undergrad is too young but grad student is older and OP assumes cheap. I hate when people look for students but they really just want to pay less than the going rate.

My daughter charges $20/hr. and she was in great demand. Her friends charged the same. She is a junior in college.

Does anyone know if the universities around here offer something similar? I've started searching individual schools but there are tons so I thought I'd post here while I continue to search.

How many hours are you offering? I know someone looking for about 20-25hrs

If they can find a student who will accept it, it necessarily isn’t below the going rate.

All the students at university of Marymount (in Arlington) use SitterCity. I think your search will go faster if you sort through their profiles, rather than post an ad and wait for them to come to you.

Grad student often sign up for this for the "easy" money, not realizing how much work it is and how much work they will have in the grad program and that they need time to network and sitting with your kids doing crafts isn't going to cut it.

Not the OP, but they likely want a young, responsible Nanny.
Someone who is ambitious, has goals in life + is responsible.

I know a few people who actually prefer a Nanny who is attending college.

To each his own I suppose. 😑

Just be aware that they come and go with little warning. My friends, who paid well, are friendly and not demanding at all, went through three in one year: the students changed their minds, made other ad hoc plans, and just didn't understand that families need advance warning before their nanny quits.

OP here, thanks so much! I haven't made my way to either of those schools websites yet. I'll look right now.

UMD has one, and I am pretty sure AU does too.

We just moved to Arlington from a major college town. The school had a website you could post jobs on to hire students and we always had tons of luck finding part time nannies or weekend sitters that way.
