I just bought All Birds. Crazy comfortable and supportive (admittedly ugly).

Another HOKA fan here. I wear them because I work on my feet and don’t give a damn what I look like… finally got my mom (78) to switch from her beloved cute but not supportive Nikes.

My mom likes her Kiziks that you just step into. Good support and comfy too.

For walking as in exercise? Georgetown Running or Fleet Feet or REI Rockville (if REI, look for the sales associate wearing a kilt)

For walking as in just daily errands, shopping, etc? Comfort One -- Dupont Circle has the best selection

The other branch is in Rockville, if that's more convenient.

Fwiw, I was a loyal Richey customer and am glad they sort of still exist, but I've found the help and expertise not what it was back in the day. Still worth a visit, because of the range of brands they carry. But if the customer needs wider sizes (for bunions, for example), be aware that they will throw up their hands and tell you they don't exist, when they do. If you find shoes that are almost right but not quite, don't be afraid to go to Zappos to get exactly the size you need in the brand you like. And with SAS Shoes, carried at Richey/Shoefly and a grandma classic, the SAS website has by far the best selection, better than Zappos.

RnJ Sports (Rockville) does a great job of fitting shoes.

Where to go to get good walking shoes for a 75+ woman. She can walk fine on her own but her current shoes are no good even though she paid a lot for it. Where should she go?
