You're teaching the baby to sleep. She/he will be well-rested and happy-- as will you!

I’m glad I never had to resort to it but think must be really tough—not as tough as sleeplessness, though!

How can you feel guilty about making your kid learn to sleep better?

Omg do not feel guilty! You just have your kids the gift of sleep. And yourselves, too. I applaud you, OP!

Lol, are there really teenagers that aren’t amazing sleepers?

Meh. We did Ferber, and we have a securely attached, affectionate, happy --and well-rested -- kid.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with it after about nine months of age. Before object permanence does seem cruel.

Yep. And I'd do it again and again (and I have!)

It will be okay! We sleep trained and my DD is the most cheerful person I’ve ever met. Clearly not scarred.

I dunno. Subjecting your kid to sleep deprivation is pretty cruel, too. We sleep trained because our baby was *clearly* exhausted. She needed sleep, too.

I couldn’t do it at any age. Luckily my kids turned out to be decent sleepers without it.
