Then there's the whole denying your kid a two parent home and all the problems that creates: what do you do if your kid is sick, your sick, etc. You basically have to farm out your kid to the village.
Dp. I’ve never ‘farmed my kid out’. Ever. I work from home, have a salary of $300k, plus bonus. One could easily argue bringing into a home with 2 parents exposed them to stress my kids will never face.

Haha. And this is what ACB the Handmaiden did/does with her 7 kids. Contrary to the right wing blessings on her for being such a super mom & role model for all women, no way those kids were farmed out to er village.

This is probably too radical and will be deleted but I don't think it's unethical to be a single parent by choice, although I would not choose that myself. I feel like the best situation is a stable home (emotionally and financially) with both biological parents raising their child. But that doesn't mean it is the only ethical choice. As a culture, we should spend more time policing ourselves than others.

I think if that single mother has a "village" then it's fine. Keep in mind that things don't always stay the same - she could meet someone and get married. The person she meets might have other kids. Etc.

I know several women who are single mothers by choice. On the whole, they seem to be doing as well as other mothers that I know. Having a solid financial position is necessary (nothing like $10M) as is having a network of support.
Unethical would be some outlier like Octomom who had a total of 14 kids after starting IVF treatments at age 21. That was unethical and cost her doctor his license.
