Get a grip. Hans big moment of courage was voting against letting bars stay open an extra two hours, because I guess covid only spreads before 11 p.m. You know what happened after he lost and bars stayed open later? Cases went down and schools stayed closed. That’s not the way he tells it, but you can never trust anything he says or writes.

If Blair wins, I will hold my nose and vote for Blair in the general. If Riemer wins, I’ll leave it blank.

Same.

He won’t talk about his accomplishments because he has none. Absolutely zero.

Plus, his “record” as it is shares the blame for the current state of our county.

The guy is a clown.

33 for Elrich, 14 Blair, 14 Riemer is the last poll

I am a hard no on Blair, who runs as a successful businessman but got handed a company from his dad. Elrich really disappointed me during the pandemic with all the overtime & then also supporting fully the fact that we were the absolute last in the country to reopen schools.

Hans has my vote! And my DH too.

Definitely voting Blair. Riemer has shown no support for county employees, specifically the police department. MCPD is severely short staffed and that won’t be resolved with Riemer’s anti-public safety stance. I want a well-supported police department and I want a county exec who wants to work with them, not against them. I’m all for reform, but Riemer doesn’t reform. He destroys.

Spot-on.

Because voting for Hans is like throwing your vote away

Or Sully Sullivan in the general. I voted for Elrich last time, but am fed up with increasing crime and dumb County priorities. I like that both Blair and Sullivan got the FoP endorsement.

Not accurate. The company he made all his money on had zero to do with his Dad.

Riemer voted with the school closers all but once, and that was at the end, not the beginning. Riemer also chronically underfunded school construction, resulting in overcrowding and sick buildings that made reopening more complicated.

As far as housing, you are right that Riemer is responsible for housing policy. The result is a housing crisis. Maybe we would have been better off he had focused on something else. Transit is no better than when he started.

Riemer is good at making people think he’s doing something, but he’s probably doing something else. He’s the perfect candidate for a disengaged electorate that cares more about image than outcomes.

Agreed.
~county employee. not police though. Much closer to Riemer himself.

7. None of his current or former elected colleagues have endorsed him. That says a lot about the person. Some have endorsed his opponents.

The other thread seems to have the wrong title based on the responses, so here’s a new one. Riemer is the worst candidate because:

1. Riemer took money from school and road construction so he could cut taxes on developers. Did developers pass on those tax breaks to customers? LOL
2. Riemer doesn’t think landlords should pay property taxes so he gave some of them 15-year tax abatements for building luxury apartments.
3. Riemer lies more than the other candidates.
4. Riemer has been one of the most influential voices in housing and economic development policy over the past decade — even more than Elrich — and look where he’s gotten us.
5. Riemer changes his positions based on which way the wind is blowing. The only consistent thing about him is his steadfast loyalty to developers and their profit margins.

Feel free to add more.
