7-8lbs, both. The Maine Coon I left with my parents is more about 16lbs but incredibly active and muscular-not fat. Too much weight is really bad for their joints, hearts, etc.
We weigh out the food once a week or so just so we don't overfeed because it doesn't look like a lot to us. If we hit over 8lbs, they are overweight and the DVMs are very pointed though still tactful about it.
If your cats are overweight or constantly harassing for more food, switch to a higher protein food (like Dr.Elsey''s) or supplement with supplement (like Stella & Chewy's).
You can also add water/tuna water to help keep them hydrated and feel full. Also, check their thyroids and for diabetes.
