No real meaning? It means something to me!

Perfect example of why the first line supervisors have the worst job in the govt. People like you who always assume the worst.

Then ask about it! Sheesh. She probably was waiting for you to give her confirmation the cash hit your paycheck. Sometimes there's a huge lag.

Why would she wait for me to find out about it through my paycheck? What's wrong with a "Hi Larla. Congratulations, you received an award for X. Here's a copy of the certificate. You should expect to see $X in an upcoming paycheck."

Are you 100% SURE she has it?

OP, your use of word "withholding" implies some hidden agenda by your manager against you. I am sure that's not the case given the certificate has no real meaning. Why can't you just ask your manager? You are not telling us something.

You got your award. What more do you want? If it is a public recognition...well, I learned long ago to hand out awards quietly and individually. Anything else just creates too much "what about me" in the workplace. The only awards I give out in front of a group are years of service awards.

I received a reward once in front of the whole division. It was embarassing and it made me a target for the mean people in the office. I prefer quiet, one on one recognition.

DH’s awards are always just cash.

I'd think the other group would tell you what the award is for.

Also, what exactly are you waiting for? The award was the money and you got it. Usually there isn't a write up.

Yes, I'm confused what you're missing. Do you want a certificate?

I think OP is looking for recognition in front of whole group

Do you know that your supervisor has the award yet? Sometimes the plaque or whatever takes a while. Why not just ask?

I received an award from another group. I know this because the team lead told me, though she didn't go into detail. It's been over a month and I haven't received that award yet from my supervisor, though the money portion appeared in my paycheck. In fact, my supervisor hasn't even acknowledged it. What gives?
