Can you name a Republican run city that you think is doing well?

What specifically do you think Rs would do?

Have they had success in similar size cities with similar demographics?

I mean we get used all the time. We can’t control our own weed legislation and now, again, we will get potentially fked:

We basically get cuckolded, right in front of our partner, democracy, on a consistent basis. We have a bigger population than some states, but get used at a moments whim.

Oh really? The first thing the GOP will do is take away your precious paid leave, universal pre-k, free public transportation for children, summer work program for teens, UBI for new moms etc

Guessing PP is neither female, nor a parent.

Uh, no thanks. DC has issues, but there's no evidence that R leadership makes states safer. Many rural crime rates are higher per capita than in cities. I like having legal abortion, and public services like libraries that aren't pressured to ban books. It's not like the R party is into effective government these days, and we don't need a "troll the libs" administration. There aren't many "reasonable Rs" left, because the party drives them out.

What would be an effective alternative message for elected democrats to get their act together and make this city safer and cleaner?

This left-leaning moderate would definitely be in favor of Republicans running DC, provided (and this is important) they were sane ones. No Trumpers, not fundies, etc. I realize moderate Republicans are an endangered species in the 21st Century, but they are still out there.

Republicans ran the city off and on for decades prior to home rule. No thanks.

Trump's appointees ran the DC courts from 2016-2020. How did they do, OP?

No left leaning anything would think we are improved by Trump, Desantis and the lot influencing Republicans right now. Safer for some people, more unsafe for more people. Nicer for some people, less nice for many!

I mean what we’re doing now clearly isn’t working so it’s worth a shot.
