I prefer the 64oz Yeti water bottle that makes an ungodly noise when dropped or set on hard surfaces. Announce you are able to spend money on your hydration, but in a sustainable way. Bonus if you work in an office with a Hoshizaki pellet ice maker and can get up to loudly refill multiple times a day.

And this is based on taste & health -- water sitting in plastic tastes terrible, and it is terrible for your health (full of BPA, PFAS, etc).

There's a special place in hell for people who drink bottled water

I assume the cheaper crumbly plastics on the cheap brands are far more likely to leech into the water. The bottles Fiji and Evian use are much more substantial.

Evian and Fiji are certainly at the higher end, i.e. luxury, compared to cheap Ice Mountain, Kirkland, Nestle, Dasani, Aquafina. I guess Smart would be mid-range — but I heard Smart is just filtered tap water.

Okay. I have a hard time calling anything that costs $2 a "luxury" brand, but I respect your choice to call it what you will.

Try a stainless steel or reusable glass bottle that can be tossed in the dishwasher, as someone noted above. The new luxury is having the mental energy and time to organize your life in ways that are pleasant and don't produce garbage rafts in the oceans.

It is so much better for you to drink from glass or stainless than a plastic bottle. Don't you worry about the chemicals you are ingesting from your luxury water?

I did try the steel one that looks like an elegant bottle. Can’t recall the name. It was too big and heavy. And I have no need for insulated, I like my water room temperature. I also had the same bacteria concerns.

They might cost more, but "luxury" water is not a thing. Just expensive water.

Luxury water? LOL. It doesn't just "sound" shallow.

Also, plastic waste is a real problem, and while consumers aren't going to solve it by themselves, it's just gross to gratuitously generate non-biodegradable garbage just because a plastic bottle is "pleasing to hold." Who cares what other people do? YOU can wash your bottle daily if you want to. Find one that you like drinking out of -- there are plenty of bottles that have screwtop lids rather than straws -- and use that.

Fiji tastes smoother, but I love the elegant Evian bottles, so I still buy cases of it. 2/1 ratio of Fiji/Evian cases in our house.

I am addicted to the cute 500mL bottles of Fiji and Evian. I drink 2-4 per day. I like drinking out of a new bottle and I think they’re pleasing to hold. I know that sounds terribly shallow. I tried doing the Camelbak thing but found it extremely annoying to carry around and I honestly didn’t enjoy drinking from it, thus I drank less water than I do going through 500mL bottles. I also think it’s somewhat gross to carry around something you drink from and I seriously doubt people wash those daily. Seems like a breeding ground for lots of bacteria to me.
