Oh well now many women who don't know they're pregnant at 2 weeks in Oklahoma are still screwed. With a reasonable possible someone 2 months pregnant would be protected and if further along - could travel. But yeah, great win getting nothing for the progressives.

Yea, I was happy about RvW being overturned because it was a bad decision, and hoped/expected that new legislation would be passed to codify protection for abortion. I was expecting this to be bad news for Republicans because it gives Democrats a easy win. And yet…


I'm so glad that your need for precision in language overtakes the value you place on women's autonomy and health.


It's precisely that I value the rights and privileged of individual people that I insist on having laws passed by legislature and not divined through the courts. We need these laws to be clear and concise so that the protections are unambiguous and durable, so that the next yahoo that comes along can't undo them easily.


Sweetie, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the senate isn’t actually able to pass laws anymore.
Meanwhile women are going to have compromised care during a very dangerous time in their lives.

I wasn’t following it that closely at the time. But I’m extremely distraught over the loss of Roe. And if we could just codify a right to abortion in the first 24 weeks, with exceptions after that for life of the mother etc, I could sleep at night. Why didn’t they even try to do that?
