Abortion is a normal and important part of health care for women who can get pregnant.

Remember the vast majority of abortions are performed in the first trimester, when the vast majority of miscarriages also happen. There’s nothing sad about ending an unwanted pregnancy at that stage—women have to start talking about this. We mourn early miscarriages because they were wanted pregnancies.

As for the abortions that happen after the first trimester class which are now going to be illegal in many places in this country—those are the abortions performed for very serious reasons involving the health and safety of the mother.

What the GOP has done is just sick.

Children cost money! I can absolutely see this as I have friends who fall into this group.

Why do all that testing if there’s nothing you can do about it?

You're assuming its medically-ill fetuses. Maybe its just that they have children and can't afford/handle more.

I hope voters remember this.

I am surmising that is due to genetic and pregnancy testing. Certainly true with the women I know. It’s become pretty standard not to tell anyone about your pregnancy until the trisomy tests (downs) are back as well as spinal bifida.

What’s going to happen now? Can these states afford all the sick and special needs babies?
