I live on a major road out of Rock Creek Park - most of the time its pretty quiet but it can be busy during rush hours. It's fine. I also hate speed bumps with a passion or roads that are one way without a corresponding one way in the other direction. Let's not turn into Chevy Chase Maryland where all the traffic is forced onto major roads which become insanely busy. Traffic works best in a grid-like, open design. If you want rules like (and no sidewalks!) move out of DC.

And same thing with the airplane noise. If you don't like it, DON'T BUY A HOUSE IN PALISADES WHERE THERE ARE DCA APPROACHES.

Where did the new movement on this come from? Is there an actual DDOT proposal now, or is it still with the ANC?

I don’t agree that the ANC position is strong enough because they’re allowing rush hour ban. That’s just a back door to the same thing.

I completely agree with the PP and suggest that if any of this comes to pass everyone remotely nearby make these two streets part of your regular commute.

I don’t think I drive there more than twice a year but now it’ll be on the daily.

They are decidedly NOT rush hour cut throughs. There’s hardly ever a car out there but the UT people complain about speeding and some hiss (literally) at anyone driving through. UT got horrendously overbuilt.

The residents would not be affected because under this proposal they could access it anytime. So it’s someone in cahoots with Cheh or someone else trying to privatize taxpayer supported roads quietly.

Must add those streets to my regular routes from now on.

Maybe they should just get a “no through trucks” sign, although I know some people consider those to be a sure indicator that going on that route will save them time.

Oh man, I've been complaining about this for a while! Previously they turned down money to build a sidewalk, now they don't want cars to go on the road! It's totally outrageous.

The ANC's position is at least moderate, but the whole thing should be thrown out.

Recently, a $10m house sold on University Terrace. Most DC residents are already priced out of these streets and now they can’t access them either?!

Amongst other, is the Black cemetery on Chain Bridge now to be nearly impossible to visit unless you can climb a long and windy road without sidewalks (provided you cant afford a $5 million house under a thunderous flight path)?

Apparently DDOT is granting a no thru traffic to Chain Bridge Road and University Terrace. Apparently they’re acting on Cheh’s and/or a resident’s request, but no such request is to be found.

These are some of the more picturesque (Chain Bridge, University Terr and wealthy streets in DC and this proposal, which ANC, would effectively privatize them on the down low.

Anyone know more?
