Shadow senator is less than meaningless. It's unhelpful for people who support statehood. It makes us look pathetic.

In the 19th century, when the US was admitting states fast and furious, it was customary for territories that were awaiting admission to send a delegation to Congress to lobby for statehood and to follow and report back what Congress was up to. They are the modern-day version.
