Not sure. Maybe OP thinks if you buy your way into a school it's somehow more meritorious than if you test or lottery your way into it?

What does open enrollment mean? You have to go through the lottery for all schools that are not your zoned school, just like for charters.

Of these, only Oyster Adams is a non test-in, non charter.

How could anyone possibly have enough familiarity with these schools to be able to make this list, much less rank them in order? Are you just going by test scores (or alternatively, the SES of IB families, it's the same thing)?

Which is why this game is stupid, especially at the elementary school level. The actual best elementary schools in DC are almost certainly Title 1 schools, as any Title 1 school that successfully educates it's many at risk and high needs kids can genuinely credit themselves for it. Most of the schools you list have huge populations of high SES kids who get tons of support at home and honestly just need a competent school to keep them on track.

I agree. I don't think you can rank elementary schools that specifically. You can generally say theses schools are "good" and these schools are "struggling" but there's no BEST at the ES level.
