Baltimore varies tremendously block by block. If you took Lexington St, you should be fine. I just checked it on street view and there were no red flags. And if anything goes wrong, the Chief Medical Examiner's Office is only a few blocks away, so your body won't have to be transported far for the autopsy.
Damn, that's dark. I was looking at the map and I could get them to the UM Medical Center safely going straight down Pratt or Lombard and then skirting around the hospital to Fayette. It's gets weird those last two blocks but would probably be fine during the day. I was there because a loved one was in hospital there for a few days and stayed at a place on Howard. The whole vibe can change in a block in that area.
