Tip for exceptional service/effort beyond what can be reasonably expected or in sit-down restaurants (where for some reason owners are allowed to pay staff less than minimum wage).

Also reflect on why you never tip a doctor or a dentist or a lawyer. Once you realize you are only tipping those you perceive as "down from you" you realize how gross the whole thing is.

A livable wage - especially in these inflationary times, shouldn't depend on the whims of strangers. All should have dignity. Raise wages so that all have a living wage without having to beg from the customer for more.

Thank the salesman and give him a 10 on the customer survey. That is what puts money in their pocket and can help the dealership with allocations.

Maybe if you are feeling generous + have a little extra to spare, but personally I do not think it is necessary since you likely are paying an arm & a leg for your new vehicle thanks to the chip shortage that has been going on for the past 2 years or so.

No. This is a service dealerships offer. It's very common. They are not personally paying for the gas, the dealership is. Give them a good survey rating instead.

The dealership should cover expenses like gas. I think the best thing you can do is complete the customer satisfaction service survey and provide a high rating in each category. You can offer a tip but that will not affect the sales associate's performance rating like a customer review.

I just purchased a new vehicle, and for a few reasons, am unable to pick it up myself, so the sales associate is going to deliver it to my house (followed by someone else from the dealership to take them back). It’s about half an hour one way. Should I offer a tip or at least something to cover gas? I know the associate is earning a commission from the sale, and I don’t want to insult them, but I do appreciate their flexibility to bring it to me. Thanks for any suggestions.
