Tip for exceptional service/effort beyond what can be reasonably expected or in sit-down restaurants (where for some reason owners are allowed to pay staff less than minimum wage).
Also reflect on why you never tip a doctor or a dentist or a lawyer. Once you realize you are only tipping those you perceive as "down from you" you realize how gross the whole thing is.
A livable wage - especially in these inflationary times, shouldn't depend on the whims of strangers. All should have dignity. Raise wages so that all have a living wage without having to beg from the customer for more.
