There's another thread here bragging about how their MS student never does homework. This is what is in store for them. They won't be prepared for HS and will struggle.


The opposite. If the MS are getting A's and not doing homework, they were smart enough to get it done in class and extra work time. It's the ones that struggle with how little MS teachers give that start to show how smart they really aren't and suffer in HS.


But they are not developing good homework/study skills. Not to mention the increase in gaming/screen time from the pandemic. I'm pretty worried about the transition to a magnet high school from a middle school with very little homework.

AP Gov, Honors for Alg 2, English, and Chem.


All As except one B first semester.

9th grade...not a lot of homework (or none): Spanish 1, Theater, Honors English.

Moderate amount: Honors bio, AP CSP, honors Algebra 2.

A lot of homework: AP US History.

On average 1 hour a night.

My kid did not get straight A's. Typically (each quarter) 4-5 A's and 2-3 B's.

YMMV.

9th grade DCC HS 3 APs, rest honors, 2 hours HW per night with straight A's

My 10th grader spent most of every evening studying. DC didn’t have a lot of APs so still slept regular hours.
