fwiw: some fruits are super high in carbs , like bananas, but you don't give enough information as to how this factors into your plan...

Good point. I'm pretty healthy. Bmi wise and muscle mass wise. I mostly run slow long runs daily. Probably 6 to 8 miles a day. And I have a stand up desk that gets me another 2 to 5 miles walking in place.

My outside of fruit diet varies but it's mainly stuff like a bagel, maybe a burger or spaghetti or some chicken for dinner. I didn't include this stuff because while I'm not on a fruit only diet I am more concerned that the fruit is high in sugar that may increase my blood sugar levels too much. Isn't that irrespective to what else I eat? Or does something like green tea lower my blood sugar too?

OP’s choice of title is somewhat misleading. It’s not all fruit. Yes, fruit has sugar, but also has a lot of fiber. And I can assure you that no one is going to Weight Watchers because they are too many grapes.

Any time I see someone disclosing what they eat to maintain their weight without being super fit and doing a lot of cardio, someone says it sounds eating disordered. I think actually the typical American’s view of a normal non disordered amount of food is wildly skewed. I’m actually pretty tall for a woman with an office job and to maintain a BMI of 21 with my body fat percentage, I can only eat 1500 calories a day. Not to lose weight. To stay right at a healthy weight.

Here is the article on Steve Jobs/Ashton: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/10/03/ashton-kutcher-steve-jobs-fruit-diet-health-effects.html

Looks like the issue was not getting enough other nutrients. So probably eating a lot of fruit is fine as long as it isn’t exclusively fruit. But that is true of any group of foods.

I actually think it’s a good idea. I often start my feeding window (I enjoy IF) with a huge bowl of fruit (mostly berries) topped with a bit of yogurt, a couple tablespoons of ground flax, and a handful of walnuts. It’s so satisfying and keeps me feeling full for a long time. Need to drink a lot of water if you add the flax.

As for veggies and processing time, have you tried frozen veggies? They don’t take long to nuke so there really isn’t much pre-processing time. You could add a little olive oil and garlic, cheese, or soy/terriyaki sauce possibly with furikake seasoning and maybe sunflower seeds.

I've tried frozen veggies. I used to live by them. But have you ever microwaved a bag of steamfresh broccoli in an office microwave. It's not the best smell. Other vegetables are better like sweet potatoes but I still have the problem of having to go get them which isn't as easy as getting fruit from almost everywhere.

I don’t microwave any vegetables in the bag, but I haven’t noticed a particular odor microwaving broccoli. Maybe there is one and I’m oblivious, or maybe I’m microwaving a smaller quantity that produces a smaller quantity of odor, but if it’s the plastic you smell, you might try microwaving veggies without the bag.

This is the most famous one, and Ashton Kutcher is another one. But they're not the only people who have tried it. And the thing is I'm not doing an exclusive fruit thing. It's basically a fruits only at work thing to avoid my traps like the snack machine and grabbing some fast food. My fear is going too far in the other direction from McDonald's and Wendy's and Doritos to high sugar and still winding up weird m with diabetes.

If you make it fruits *and* vegetables, with vegetables the central part of your meals, you can lose weight. Source: this is how I’ve been losing the weight with my 3rd kid. I eat both raw fruits (stone fruits and berries) and raw vegetables (cucumbers, sugar snap peas, celery) when I don’t feel like cooking something. But I only have one snack a day. A habit of grazing and snacking can go off the rails fast.

Has anyone ever tried this. I'm not even really talking exclusively, just using fruit as my main source of food throughout the day (say a small non fruit breakfast and a normal non fruit dinner but snacks and lunch are all fruits). Has another tried this and how did it work? How was your energy and your cravings? Did you find certain types of fruit better than others?

Right now my main go tos good snacks are apples and bananas. Then got lunch I'll have a 16oz fruit mix from a grocery store (strawberries, grapes. Honeydew melon, canteloupe, mango, pineapple, peaches, etc).

I've been pro veggies for snacks but anti fruits because of the sugar. But it's so much easier to just grab and go with fruit instead of having to steam or cook veggies, and that preprocessing time can really mess with my cravings.

So far it's been about a week and no problem but I'm cautious about any harm I may be causing myself.

Thanks
