Our 01 Odyssey had a bad power cable between the battery and starter. Their are hundreds (thousands?) of wires in your van but the really high current wires are between the alternator, battery and starter. Should be checked.

Do the basic starter check at any auto parts store or shop, where they quickly check the state of your battery, alternator and starter. I once had a starter motor that mostly worked but was drawing four times so normal amount of current and was killing the battery.

Before replacing the fuel pump, replace the fuel filter if your van has one. My ancient Subaru was showing signs of a failing fuel pump but we saved a bunch by replacing the fuel filter that was clogged.

If it cranks, it’s not the starter. That’s the starters only job, to crank it.

I am also thinking relay. Battery is strong and connections look good to me. Starter was replaced about 5 years ago. Fuel pump, maybe, I am not hearing any sound from the gas tank.

For your number 5, let me get back to you. LOL. Good day bud.

I replaced starter like 5 years ago. I don't remember if I've ever replaced fuel filter. I know I have never replaced fuel relay.

No issues with inserting and removing key. When I try to turn on, she cranks hard like it wants to turn on but having issues with actually starting the engine.

One time I took it in, my mechanic said no code was coming up snd I will have to drive until it breaks down. How do I even explain this to him?

Not rough but sluggish but it’s 18yo/205k so it runs like one. This morning she turns over again. No hesitation at all. So frustrating.

^ just wanted to add. Once starts, it stays on. It hasn't failed me while driving.

04 Odyssey, 205k, Sometimes she will crank/turn over, but will not start. Sometimes she will start after many attempts, sometimes she will start after a few hours/over night. I drove this morning but this afternoon, she won't start. I am thinking either fuel relay or fuel pump. This problem first started like two years ago but recently happening more frequently. Anyone care to guess?
