Just pay attention to what time he needs to be there and make sure he’s not wearing a cap for a different team or club. Simple and easy.

This. We did one year of summer swim and all decided that the parents were too much. This was in a very competitive team. Ended up just swimming club every day during summer and also take some time off for other activities (music and precollege) in the summer. Kid is about to commit to college swimming, so it can be done.

Not much to know, just go and have fun. A meets are a lot more enjoyable than B meets. Parents, especially in top divisions can be obnoxious but a lot less of that in lower divisions.

The relays are super fun to watch.

They're faster, the kids have more fun and act like more of a team, and there are fewer kids than B meets so everyone has to volunteer.

A meets are soooo much better than B meets because they’re faster. Only one heat except freestyle that’s two heats. Not so many DQs. It only sucks if your kid makes only freestyle in A meets and you care to get other times in other strokes…just say no to doing both meets.

I think what you posted is probably confusing to a new parent. I think what you’re explaining is that just because you make one A meet doesn’t mean you’re going to be an all of them for the summer. That’s standard, you have to continue to qualify each week on the ladder. If your top on the ladder he will be in the A meet. If you fall you’re not in it that week.

You have to just laugh at the parents otherwise you would cry.

Your entire Saturday mornings from now until the end of July will be spent on the (hot) pool deck and you'll most likely have to volunteer in some capacity.

Your kid can continue tovswim I'm the Monday B meets, but only in 2 events neither of which she placed in during the A meet.

Yes, you stay for the whole meet. Even if your kid is in one event. If there are last minute scratches your kid might end up swimming other stroked.

Second year in an NVSL team but first time my kid was put into an A meet, we found out last night. Is there anything I need to know?
