The rules for AOS is more of a quota than TJ. There is a minimum and maximum quota per school. Every school gets 1.5% of its 8th graders same as TJ. Many consider it harder to get into AOS than TJ, and I know people who got into TJ but not AOS. I also know many more who got into AOS and not TJ.
The admissions policies are similar because they were implemented at the same time, and were done in coordination with each other, and largely written by an outside group operating nationally.

The main difference was AOS had its testing happen in person, while TJ was online. I have a suspicion this is why certain students did not get in, who have a reputation of cheating.
AOS has a STEM critical thinking test, and lowered its requirements from geometry to algebra 1 to match TJ.

Above I wrote AOS when I meant Academies of Loudoun.
AET has about 10% more seats than AOS, and has three subschools that a student applies to, IT, Engineering, and I think Entrepreneurship.
Not sure if the 1.5% was for each of AOS and AET or combined. Total seats is less than TJ, despite having double capacity because students are considered not students of AOS but their base high school and they go to AOS every other day.

Hi

I am trying to understand how AOS/AET is different from TJ admission process. We recently moved to Loudoun county. I went through AOL website, it talks about STEM test - I am not sure what this is, similar to TJ test?

Also does AOL pick only few students per school to align with diversion & inclusion goals?

Thank you and pardon my ignorance
