If you’re voting for Albornoz, why not Goldberg too? He seems more moderate than some of the other candidates. Otherwise we are likely to end up with Hucker or Jawando again.

I read his website and Goldberg’s policies seemed to be very much a clone of Riemer. Was hoping to see someone bring something different to the table, so I was disappointed.

At the end of the day, if your goal is to unseat Jawando I think you will be disappointed. The At Large vote count will probably end up:
1. Albornoz
2. Jawando
3. Glass

The forth spot is really the question. With Hucker now running At Large (and a late entry at that) he is not a shoe-in and I think Goldberg does have a chance gauging by the fact that he seemingly has broad support across the county, gauging by yard signs. So that’s probably a toss up.

I would just hate to end 12 years of Riemer with a Riemer clone.

Goldberg seems slimy to me, but that's more in my experience with him through his business and not as a politician.

I’ve known Goldberg for years, including watching him do business, and he’s not at all slimy. He offered properties for free to Aghan refugees and to victims of the flooded out apartments in Twinbrook last summer.

DP. I don’t care about what he does in his free time, I care about what he will do on the council. What will he bring to the table?

You are exactly the reason why some type of competency test should be required for voting.

NP.. eh, nothing wrong with seeking opinions.

I usually google these people, but there's a lot to read. DC area has a lot of people involved in politics, so I assume these people are more attuned to and plugged in to the goings on of who's who in politics.

I'm originally from CA, and we used to get a huge pamphlet of all the Props with the pros/cons and rebuttals. I read through all of them, but I still don't think there's anything wrong with crowdsourcing. It's like discussing it at a dinner party with your friends.

Thanks for starting the thread, OP. I, too, am clueless about who's who. All I know is that I won't be voting for Elrich.

pp you quoted.
Yes, I am also originally from CA and remember those pamphlets. But OP's post is nothing like a discussion at a dinner party.

Dinner party discussion: What do you all think of Robinson's policy on crime? I really like that he values XYZ and think it will benefit us because of.....

OPs post: I'm clueless! Tell me who to vote for!
DCUM: Vote for Smith
OP: Ok!

Eh, I took OP’s post as trying to come up with a starting point. So many of the candidates say the same or similar things and it’s hard to truly differentiate, particularly when there are so many. And they did list some issues that were important to them. If you don’t want to help educate voters, don’t, but then don’t complain when turnout is low or everyone just votes for the incumbents they recognize.

OP I’m not in the same district as you and still becoming familiar with some of the council candidates but am voting for Blair at least. Enrich has been unsatisfactory, Reimer is slimy, and Blair is more moderate than either.

I got my ballot yesterday too, and am also at a loss. Although I don't like Elrich so need to make a different choice there. I've received a million postcards from candidates in recent weeks but those are useless. Maybe I select based on the size of their postcard - some barely fit through the mail slot!

What about the Governor's race? Also a long list of candidates.

Finally - your list includes R and D candidates. This is a primary so you are only voting for the candidates in your registered party right? My ballot only has D candidates (or non partisan) on it. So that should narrow your list right there.

Please rate each candidate from 1 - 10; 1 being ultra-left wing, 5 moderates, and 10 extreme conservative.

Also, any info on who is likely to increase taxes, who will be tough on crime, who will hold schools accountable/demand quality performance metrics and merit based systems in education, and who is pro-business/anti-business would be helpful. Thanks! I just don't have a lot of time for this.
