Bingo!

MCPS wants to check the box and said...."Yes, we are addressing the social/emotional issues due ......." and give themselves a pat on the back!

It’s a huge waste of time. And a waste of taxpayer money, but that’s par for the course with MCPS, I guess.

Agreed, leader in me is very much the 90's self esteem crap. It's not what students need

Every teacher I know was not happy when it was announced. I think the union put something together opposing it? I'm very much in favor of social emotional learning in schools--the kids really do need it--but this is NOT the program.

What makes you say that? How is this program lacking, and Is there something out there that would be better?

Go back and read the original post which talks about how curriculum does not address children who have experienced trauma

And our president is catholic!

Your bigotry is showing.

My kid hates it and says it is a waste of time. And this is coming from a kid who loves to learn.

It’s the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People for kids. Our kid did it in the BCC cluster and didn’t like it. Said it was a waste of time. I don’t k ow how much money MCPS spent on it.

There's been a whole bunch of eyeball rolling over it among teachers. It may have been a decent idea pre-pandemic when someone chose it, but it seems very out-of-place now. I'm in the next round of schools for implementation next year. Slow rolling on the training. I don't expect this to get much real attention at the HS level - we have very different problems.

Our kids in MS did it this year. Didn't talk about it much.

It's the wrong intervention for kids who have experienced trauma. They should be doing a program that serves kids who need resiliency skills (leader in me isn't it). School counselors were not consulted and are unhappy with the directive.

I just got an email from my school saying they were implementing the Leader in Me program. Has anyone heard of this or had their schools do it? I am reading mixed reviews on it.
