I think the two-way immersion ES programs started in 2017, so those kids may not have reached middle school yet.

The one at Kemp Mill has been around for decades, but they just went to the local MS and didn’t do anything special.

Oh that's true, good point. The immersion students got a notice saying that TWI students have a MS pathway starting 2023-24 school year. Not sure the specifics but I'd imagine it'd be similar to the half-day Chinese MS path, which is just one foreign language class.

Yes, it's the same for Spanish immersion.

Our kid is in 6th grade French immersion at SSIMS. I assume it's the same as Spanish immersion though. SSIMS is on a block schedule, so 8 classes with 4 per day, alternating even and odd periods. 3 of 8 are in French - 2 French language (one period per day) and 1 world studies. The other 5 periods are taught in English (science, math, health/PE, English, elective). Since they have 2 periods of French language, they have one less elective than those who are not in immersion.

How does Spanish Immersion work in middle school? What classes are taught in Spanish, and which are in English? Thanks!
