We like Blue Apron, but I have found it to be inconsitent in the last several months as far as missing ingredients. A PP said that they don't repeat recipes in a year and, while this may technically be correct, they do have some recipes that are very similar to each other and follow the same formula. We often enjoy them and think they're delicious - but you will definitely see the menu echo thorughout the year.

I love that it's taught me some new cooking techniques, and I can easily recreate a lot of the recipes on my own. There are some specialty ingredients, but if you're DIYing, there are easy substitutes.

Hello Fresh

I have started ordering 4 meals and making it last 2 weeks, instead of 2 meals a week and I save money that way.

I alternate between Gobble and Hello Fresh. (Keep both active but opt in or out on a weekly basis). Gobble’s been winning lately though the two services are more similar now than they were a few years ago.

Gobble is quicker to make and has tastier food. More Asian-ish recipes/ingredients.

I hope you’re a troll, OP. This is seriously messed up.

Sure, you can get away with it, great, hurrah for you.

Agree with this. Please don't steal from them or advocate for others to do so. This is clearly not their intent with the free trial.

Seriously, OP, WTH? How do you justify this? Are you comfortable with your kid knowing his parents are scammers?

I liked Sunbasket. My main problem with meal kits is the packaging. It just feels so wasteful.

We like home chef, but never order red meat so I can’t comment on that.

Yeah, blue apron does it by address, not email, so you can’t keep signing up for promotions.

That’s dirty, OP.

We have tried several but keep going back to Hello Fresh. We get the 16 free meals, cancel and then sign up again with a new email. They have been the most consistent and always offering credit if they are late or something is not up to par which is rare.

We only get two meals a week. The whole reason we started it was to get out of the rut or the same dozen or so meals we rotated around each week. We don’t order every single week, but it makes for a nice treat and we frequently go back to recipes we received from past orders.

As I said we tried several and have some comments on others.

Every Plate is Hello Fresh’s cheaper cousin but we didn’t like the minimum was three meals a week. We also found their recipe even too simple for our simple tastes.

Marley Spoon was most expensive and the quality was horrible.

Home Chef was good sometimes but shy steaks have been tough and the veggies don’t seem as fresh.

Blue Apron got us to try things our simple palates would never have tried but finding their ingredients to recreate has been expensive as far as time and gas or just non existent.

We can go for weeks without ordering. We are just a family of three or two depending on when our kid is off at college.

For those who use meal kits, who are you using and what recipes do you like?

One nice thing about Blue Apron I just thought of us is they never repeat a recipe for a year.
