“You’re a selfish woman and you hurt your daughter”.

IDK but it was definitely on here.

"Go walk the streets like your whore cousin Melissa"

-yes, I've posted about this before. I have no idea if my cousin (actually my mom's cousin--so my cousin once removed) was a "whore who walked the streets" or not. I know that she had a baby out of wedlock and her entire immediate family was angry at her--but no one would tell me why (I was 14 then--my mom started telling me to "walk the streets" within about a year of that and it continued for several years after whenever she was angry at me.)

After our nanny left, a mother who knew she and my daughter well joked that nanny must have taken my DD’s comb and soap with her.

That my child, who is three, tended to be unkind at times.

After an unplanned C-section and a rough few days in the hospital, I was sitting in a wheelchair with my infant strapped in the bucket seat next to me. He was crying as we waited for my husband brought the car around. A mom and her elementary schooler came over and she laid it on thick about how he was crying and she couldn’t stand how sad it was and she insisted she hold my baby. She and her daughter crowded around until I just flatly refused and didn’t engage.

Small talk upon meeting a group of moms when DC1 was in K, getting to know each other, another mom asked me what I do, briefly stated my profession, asked her same, she starting staying home after her first child when she decided not to return to teaching for financial reasons and also - "they are only young once, it goes by so fast, and I decided I should be there for my children." I have since gotten to know her and consider her a casual friend, think it was an insensitive choice of words, but it came at a terrible time where I was working because I had no other choice, feeling so conflicted about it, and it was so hurtful.

In the moment I would have felt so bad, but now I would probably have burst out laughing hysterically.

I too was a perfect mother before I had any kids.

Not another mother but a nanny. This nanny came up to me laughing and said she thought I was the nanny and our nanny was the mother and she told our nanny (thinking she was the mother) that the nanny (me) was terrible and always on her phone.

Upon excitedly announcing to my MIL that I was expecting our 3rd baby after a DS and DD:

“Was this an accident?”

The whole “how can you leave your baby and go to work” bit. Um, I have to in order to save money for my children to go to college someday. I didn’t marry a rich guy in his early 50s who has gobs of family money and works in BigLaw like you did.

Not horrible but…

“Wow! Your daughter is beautiful! She looks nothing like you!”

I hoped she meant because DD has DH’s dark hair, skin, and eyes.

I’ll include mine in a bit (I don’t want this to be about my worst thing specifically)
