A 4 hour party is insanely long. I'm always pretty surprised when I see invites for this age group longer than 2 hours.

But her text is fine. I mean, she doesn't want all the kids in her house. That seems fine to me.

I bet the brother won’t be napping - I bet he has Covid and is isolating.
(Not that I would care - I’m over it - but a four hour nap makes no sense).

Come for an hour- doesn't sound like they really are if you stay the entire time. It's also inexperienced to host a 4 hour party for 4-5 year olds.

I would not assume the time frame is a window…DD had a friend whose family would throw unbearably long parties like this, and it was very much a “stay the entire time” situation.

The little brother will be napping for 4 straight hours? Why couldn't I get a kid who did that?

Sounds more like an open house where guests can come and go.

4 hours is the window. I wouldn’t assume we were expected to stay from start to finish. I always plan to leave when my kids start showing signs that they’ve had enough.

Four hours for a party is super long. And the baby doesn’t take a four hour nap.

OP here. Maybe she’ll have to reschedule and we can have a conflict on the new date. Otherwise, I’ll take the advice to stay for part of the party and then head out early.

I wouldn't assume you have to stay all four hours, just that you can come anytime during that timeframe.

Show up, stay for a while and then leave when your kid gets antsy.

There’s going to be severe weather tomorrow afternoon. You won’t be there for four hours if they insist on staying outside.

Weird, right? Four hour party in the rain and we have to ask to be escorted to the bathroom. And being told to watch our kids. Lol I have three kids and have never encountered this before!
