And sure she will have a nanny like most working moms — but the physical demands of pregnancy would hurt her career without question.

I appreciate her honesty. Hollywood isn’t kind to women in late 30s+. She recently had a big role and worried about potentially never getting another one after taking time off to start a family. It’s just the reality of choosing that career and she was able to find a way to still have kids so good for her. People need to stop being so judgmental especially when they have not experienced the same circumstances. I’ve dealt with infertility for years which pushed back my timeline to have kids. I’d use a surrogate if I could afford it so I could have the number of kids I’ve always wanted (3, will probably get to 2 before I age out).

I think the real issue is the weight gain. And that's what she wants to avoid. A lot of stars have been on diets since they were 10 years old. When they get pregnant and eat normally, they blow up like balloons (Jessica Simpson and the Kardashians). And then they basically starve after birth to lose it all again.

I can see people missing out on roles too when they're pregnant but the character they're playing isn't.

Personally my pregnancies were super easy even though I was AMA. I worked out and worked at my job until a 3 hours before going in for my inductions. But you won't know that until you've gone through a pregnancy. The lack of sleep with newborns is what kills me...

What I find annoying is the way she seems to imply that the rest of women who give up all those same things are somehow different and giving up less. Many of us have given up a lot more than she would have.

If I could've afforded a surrogate, I would've used one. No judgement against any one who goes that route for any reason. Both of my pregnancies turned out to be high risk and my recoveries were difficult. God bless the women who have been, are or will be surrogates.

Does she plan to 100% outsource child care too? Is it a child you love or an accessory?

I think it's a sad testament to the pressures of that industry, but I understand her reasoning. Women are very replaceable and they get thrown over for far less than being out of shape/unavailable for 2 years.

Of course, Hollywood types "having it all" including multiple kids without a break in career or gaining a pound also adds to the pressure for other women in Hollywood and elsewhere.
