Having just been there for a work conference, it is not low-key. The old money wealthy vibe is extremely apparent. At least to someone who is not old money wealthy.

It is beautiful. It is also not my thing and I would never, ever drop $2k on 3 nights for just about anything. But I'm not a resort/cruise person. If you are, then it may be worth it if the cost is not an issue for you. It's absolutely gorgeous, not crowded (at least, it wasn't crowded mid-week), lovely beaches, good but super expensive dining, everyone was thin and wealthy and beautifully dressed.

I have lives in Atlanta now for 3 years and everyone talks about this place. Personally I remain skeptical that any Georgia beach resort can be worth this money, but I lived in Florida and California most of my life. It just seems like an otherwise nice hotel with an ok beach. I just paid less to stay in a fantastic resort in Maui than this place charges. All that being said, for a wedding I’m sure it would be very fun.

I know this thread is a little old but we were easily able to hire a great babysitter through a service. I wouldn’t bring family just to watch the kids to this locale. It’s a great resort in terms of a high end experience while being very kid friendly.

I love the Cloister at Sea Island. I think it's totally worth it. There is an elegance there that you don't often find anymore. I can't wait to go back.

I would go in a heartbeat. A Sea Island wedding is not to be missed, will be a beautiful ceremony and one hell of a party.

Are you talking about Sea Island, GA? Everyone has their own opinion but this just doesn’t seem accurate at all.

I personally think it is worth the money. It is not flashy but the amenities and service are just solidly, reliably vey nice. It’s charming and not crowded. To me, it has always been a very special place.

It’s definitely not tired, and still nice. I do think it has slightly gone downhill in recently years though. The dining situation is a mess, things like the water slide never seem to be open, they have been taking awhile to fix things. I think all those issues are because they are understaffed. The grounds are still very nice and well maintained though.

It’s very very nice and has been redone the last few years. I love to go in the early spring and fall but have not been there this time of year.

It’s not remotely tired. It’s extremely nice and there is something for everyone. I’m surprised it’s okay $2k a night for three rooms. I haven’t been able to find a room there for less than $1k a night in a very long time.

i haven't been, but i hear the King and Prince Resort, which is right there is very nice. and not as expensive.

We are invited to a wedding there. My H could take or leave going (a friend of his from childhood's daughter) but I thought it could be fun to make a vacation out of it and thinking of bringing my parents who can also help with the kids (which they love to do)! But for 3 rooms its about $2k a night, is it worth it? I have heard many mixed reviews and some saying its feeling tired? Thoughts please.
