Former egg donor here. I donated 18 years ago when I was 26. I said at the time that I’d be open to contact when the child reaches 18 and I still feel this way. I’m not sure how they would find me - though the recipients probably still know the name of the agency, I certainly don’t.

My best friend was an egg donor to two families that gave birth. She’s open to meeting them but they haven’t reached out yet. She donated because she’s a wonderful person and wanted to help families. Just anecdotal but thought I’d share.

We anticipated having some connection with our donor so we put this in our contract with her.
We are keeping contact through the attorney that drew up the contract (so if either party moves, etc. we are easy to find). To date we haven't reached out but probably will in the future.

Our child was conceived via egg donor. She is in elementary school and has always known she was donor-conceived. We are very open about this. Our donor seemed lovely at least in her profile and indicated she would be open to contact in the future. Has anyone opted to initiate contact with their donor? Letters, calls, in-person meetings, etc. If so, how did it go? Did you have any regrets about meeting them? Did their profiles reflect who they seemed to be in real life?

I realize our donor may have changed her mind about contact, but it would be great if she’s still open to a call or meeting if our child ever develops a curiosity about their genetic roots.
