Who here didn’t work a little while they were out with covid? Really.

I couldn’t. I was exhausted and was bed ridden for the most part. I only started to feel better after 7 days and only felt like my old self after 2 weeks.

That’s the usual experience. And obviously not for this particular MCPS staff member.

Its not unusual covid denier.

Surely you don't believe that. A significant number of cases are asymptomatic. The CDC even changed the isolation guidance because there were so many people five days in with no or mild symptoms. Nurses, a moderately physically demanding job, are asked to come into work when Covid positive during periods of staffing shortages.

It's not normal to be bedridden for 7 days.

Yes, it is normal.

This, they are out on sick leave. They can do it when they return.

Collective bargaining gone mad.

1. If he is on covid leave, he is not allowed to work

2. It's a little insensitive of you to expect him to work while he is sick no matter how long or not long it will take him to do

3. You shouldn't have waited until June when school is almost over to have a 504 meeting

If staff take covid leave, they cannot work. If they are quarantined or asymptomatic, it's a grayer area, and they might be able to work from home without using up sick leave.

Staff do have MCPS devices that they can use from home, so that's not the issue. I'm an MCPS teacher and my family had covid earlier this year. I was given the choice of not using my leave, but being available to provide virtual instruction during that time, or using the covid leave. For covid leave, the rules are strict and there was additional paperwork to get it approved, since it's federally funded.

I think these rules exist for a reason. It would be even more frustrating if students private information were accidentally made public because these policies were relaxed. In fact I'm certain we never hear the end of it on this forum.]

It's probably a contractual issue, if they are out sick then they can't work.

Yeah, so frustrating that he’s sick and isn’t going to do your paperwork.

I'm sure he isn't trying to shirk his responsibilities, and if he's sick, why do you want him to work?

Sensitive documents and materials are typically only allowed to be accessed through work devices at work (obviously when schools were closed this was different). So, I would totally understand if the school doesn't want him doing this away from campus.

I'm trying to set up a 504 meeting for my son. I asked the school psychologist if he could fill out a form for me (takes about 10 minutes online) and he stated "I'm not really allowed to considering I'm not working right now. I'm out with COVID. I had to get people to cover all my meetings for the same reason. We can figure out a way to get it done before summer."

Kind of frustrating. I wasn't sure if this is the policy.
