Same person as above. Or is Accelerated Math 7 Plus instead of AIM? He's completing Compacted Math 5-6, so should be in some form of a 7th grade curriculum for math...

If you weren’t in the magnet lottery but your child is in compacted 5/6 and has done well, I’d contact the middle school counselor to verify the course placement decision, which should be a combo of central office recommendation and 5th grade data and teacher rec. The middle school has leeway to put your child in AIM if the data supports that placement, although some middle schools are more flexible and others more rigid. Don’t wait until August. If you run into trouble contact Carl Seward at mcps. He’s really nice and runs the secondary math for the county.
