I don’t think this person is from APS. Assessments for the most part must be on the iPad that’s how they are graded.

Well, it's true in high school. My high schooler's teachers do not talk to him, even though his IEP mandates that his assignments be given verbally.

This sounds similar to my sons experience at Claremont- they seem to do 15-20 min of Lexie or Dreambox but otherwise don’t use them

My guess (only a slightly educated guess) would be minimum times for Lexia and Dreambox. Then some Seesaw because it is helpful to have students talk through their approach. So probably 20 minutes of Lexia, 20 minutes of Dreambox, and up to 20 minutes of Seesaw.

I’ll add that they did this earlier in the year and seem to be correcting it now, but haven’t made it known to staff (low level) what their new “policy” will be.

Teachers don’t know until you know.
As a teacher in the early grades, our feet were held to the fire to get kids on iPads. As in they were announcing during county wide meetings which schools met their weekly goals in getting children to use their iPads. And then praising those schools publicly which then trickled down to classrooms being singled out for “not meeting the goal.”
Go talk to the school board and central office, they made the rules.

APS said they will be collecting iPads (at least for elementary students) and resetting instructional screen time next year. I am VERY for this. (I understand that some parents want access to educational apps for summer learning and I think there should be room for exceptions based on parent / teacher dialogue. I also think there should be a different approach for high schoolers, especially those researching and applying for college or otherwise making post graduation plans).

with all my caveats stated — what does more appropriate electronic use look like next year? Especially for elementary students? Have they discussed this publicly or do any teachers/admin on here know?
