or 2022 experience?

This is hard options for Business major.

UVA business is a top notch, but as someone mentioned, it's not a direct admit.

My kid preferred Villanova Business over non-business UVA.

According to their common data sets, rigor at both schools is very important. The only other factors which Villanova lists as very important are gpa and class rank. UVA also lists those 3 as very important but they also list Recommendations and Character/Personal Qualities as being important as well. So, UVA is the one giving priority to factors other than rigor to a greater extent than Villanova is.

If they're a business major, be aware that Villanova is direct admit to the business school while UVA is not.

Both have EA; apply early to both and see what happens.

These schools are very different in most ways, so, look at desired major, access to interships/jobs, environment, etc. I can't remember if UVA has ED (I know my kid applied EA). If your kid really likes one of them and can apply ED, I'd have them do it. Make sure they have a safety option that they really like since neither of these are safeties.

Unless your son is applying early decision, there’s no. need to choose right now. Just apply to both and see what happens. UVA had a 15% acceptance rate for out of state applicants this year. Villanova’s acceptance rate was 23%. Your son has the time to learn about both schools as well as others to see which one is a better match for his interests.

Definitely good to go ED, if you have a first choice. I read that Villanova is a hot school right now (maybe because of basketball?).

Two entirely different schools with almost nothing in common. Of course a kid may like both. My DS thought about applying to VIllanova and would have if he had not gotten into UVA early.

UVA is a much stronger school. I’m from the NY area and Villanova was only well known because if basketball. Those who argue UVA is only regionally known are really not accurate, at least nowadays.
