No, neither of us are complainers, we both clean. Pretty equally.

When my job took over as primary (he has worked from home for seven years), he did get a little frustrated. Instead of complaining he made an official chore chart for the kids. It rotates by week. Nothing crazy but enough to keep everyone engaged and active in home upkeep.

Both of us claim about chores. We do them. We divide them equally, although according to our strengths. But we complain.

No. He does chore after chore, while I read or watch Netflix, then he brings me a cup of tea.

That sounds stressful to deal with. How does he respond if you talk to him about it?

"I do lots around the house! I set up the furniture and pictures when we first moved in! I clean the yard a couple times a month! I cleaned the guest room that time your dad visited!"

Yes, really.

Of course. Who's he going to complain to? His mommy?

Yes. But not always when it’s needed without a nudge. They do many things spontaneously though which is awesome. Some things they will never notice or do.

Too often one spouse believes what they think should be what gets done. They don't get to decide. Other spouse doesn't think a chore needs doing or doesn't think it needs to be done as often.

I don’t do chores without complaining, so I don’t expect him to either. They get done though.

Yes and no. I’ve noticed that he doesn’t like to do the things that have to be done over and over again like dishes and laundry and mowing the lawn and cleaning the bathroom. He does like to do “projects” though. So, he’s the guy in charge of putting together modular furniture or helping kids with the big report.

Yes but so do I. We do them anyway. There’s no inherent joy for me in scrubbing a toilet I don’t expect DH to feel differently.

If he complained *and didn’t pull his weight* we’d have problems.

Yes, DH and I both do whatever is needed. We get cleaners once every two weeks.

Mine complains without doing chores. Grumbles all day long about dog fur and kids toys but never lifts a finger. Does that count?
