I have a 2014, 4th generation Ody, with 36K miles on it. Recently looked REALLY closely at chaning to a 9 seat Yukon XL, or a new Ody. And.....kept the old Odyssey. And I'm putting in a 9th seat, long story. Great car, the Gen 4's have a larger interior cargo volume than current Yukon XLs, and more than the Gen 5 Odys.

I do really like the safety features and lane assist, etc on the Gen 5s. But now isn't the best time to buy a car, either.

That's what happens when you make cars in US and use American quality inspectors before cars are rolled out of the plant.


I disagree. I have owned other cars made in the US during this time and they were fine. I just don't feel that Honda knows what they are about anymore. The company makes uninteresting cars that are just average in quality. Pains me to say it. The European cars I own are plenty temperamental, but at least they are more interestingly designed inside and out.

Just about. We typically sell them after a few years and take the appropriate depreciation. We end up paying about the same in depreciation as a used one but get to enjoy the new part of the van's life.

This. Take the least reliable American car company and merge it into the least reliable car company in Europe, then cut expenses at the American company to the bone and you get a Chrysler

If I was in the market for a minivan, my first choice would be the PHEV Chrysler Pacifica. It’s a pretty amazing vehicle.

Also consider the plug in Pacifica. We only get gas for road trips. The plug in electric covers all of our local trips.

Honestly, look at the Toyota Sienna. I have a 22 and love the hybrid engine with these xrazy high gas prices. (I've also driven a 2011 Odyssey and a 2015 Sienna.)

We love our van and want to purchase another. Car savvy people: 2022 or earlier model? Dealership or other? Finances are in order. It's been so long since we've purchased a car (obviously!) we could use some advice, especially with inventory issues.
