Pick the place that is the best commute and house you like.

We live in McLean zoned for Langley. Dh has a 20 min door to door commute.

There all comparable. All MCPS and FCPS have the same teachers and curriculum so the same kid will do the same at any of these schools. Pick whichever place you enjoy living in more.

Commute is one factor. School culture is another, as is finding a house you like.

Among those schools, pick the house with the shortest commute. That is the number one factor. We are not yet back to pre-Covid levels. But we will get back to them eventually. Also, bonus points for having a commute with several options.

All of these schools offer Advanced Placement courses; there are other schools in Fairfax and Montgomery Counties that offer the International Baccalaureate program.

Teacher pay is slightly higher in Montgomery than in Fairfax.

Not sure what differences in school policies would stand out. Both school districts are large public school systems run by liberal Democrats. The FCPS School Board is up for re-election next year and there's a good chance that some members will lose their seats. Both systems will have new superintendents next year, but the new superintendent in Montgomery has worked in MCPS for two decades and the new superintendent in Fairfax is coming from Washington State and has no prior experience with FCPS. Both are women.

In terms of diversity from most diverse to least diverse the order is Wootton (not Wotton), Churchill, McLean, Langley, Whitman.

If you ask people to split hairs much more than this, you'll end up not wanting to live in any of these areas, as people will just start fighting. You can find more information about individual schools by looking at the MCPS and FCPS web sites.

Pick the neighborhood you like. They are all good schools. There is no magical #1 school.
These are all very competitive schools so make sure your kid likes that type of environment

No. Commutes, restaurant preferences, housing stock, walkability, and taxes are the differences in the area. The difference in school quality are minuscule in the grand scheme of things.
