Insurance claim started it, shower liner failed.

$26K bathroom reno, not 100% of it. What we didn’t do: didn’t update vanity (and therefore sinks or sink fixtures), mirrors, lighting, bathtub or fixture, or toilet.

Price included demolition, drying process. Updated shower: shower floor, tile through shower, floors, bathtub surround; all new paint incl. trim. We got the shower door glass upgraded to frameless.

In addition, there was some drywall repair where the tile connected to our bedroom wall, repainted half of the bedroom. Same with the kitchen ceiling below bathroom. Part of drywall removed and replaced. And when the re-hung, they painted entire ceiling and a big wall of the kitchen.

It is a large bathroom, and I’m glad we didn’t have to replace the vanity. It is custom due to the unique space, and at the time wood was low in stock. Would have also meant new counter. The vanity was removed and recaulked in for the flooring demo.

With the claim, our total out of pocket was $3.5K, I think. I was trying to go back and double-check…

This is what we paid as well. We live in a >100 year old house. One of the bathrooms was original. Demolition is complex, sizes are usual and many things need to be custom made to fit. We used a designer to get all these details right. We also went with high quality fixtures so we didn’t have to do this again for a while and the results are worth it. Very happy with the results.

Sizes are *unusual* rather.

Replaced all of the 80s looking golden oak stair handrails with black metal ones I bought on Etsy. $1100 plus a few hours of work. It makes a huge difference!

Retaining wall. I think it was about 10K. It looks amazing!

Screened in trex transcend composite deck. Total of 18000 watts in heaters, skylights, extensive lighting, TV, electric shades to fully close it in, curling fan, upgraded painted curling, 496 sqft 80k. Does not include fur iturr or bluestone patio repair.

For a less $$ project, DH installed a new mailbox at the end of our driveway. It is beautiful compared to the 26 year old builder special that was leaning precariously. $400

Howard county. Project ongoing. Kitchen remodelling. Cabinets custom from cabinet discounters 24K, countertops $9K, contractor $35K, flooring for entire first floor maybe 1200sq ft 18K. The contractor work involved kitchen layout change, breaking and building of drywall, demo of existing flooring, cabinet installation and new electric work and painting of first floor.

I renovated my basement a year ago (started January 2021, ended late April 2021). About $75k. Ripped out the walls to add insulation, expanded finished space into old storage area, turned powered room into full bath w walk-in shower, finished laundry room, and main room got a gas fireplace with built in bookcases and a little kitchen area (no sink or appliances, just Ikea cabinets and a counter).
Still in the process of furnishing it, but spent maybe $10k with n couch, chairs, rugs, curtains, a console table, lamps, and a gaming table.

New screened in porch. Large - I don't know the measurements, but we have a dining area with regular seating for 8 and a lounge area (couch, chairs, etc., it is like a second living room.

Industrial heaters for chilly evenings, ceiling fans for when it is too warm
