SOLs in High School where it really matters...come out right away!
They do if you have a 6th grader in advanced math who wants to take Algebra in 7th.
The SOL wasn’t a consideration for DD (and her classmates) because they took the SOL after the placements were made. This was APS, so it might be very different where you are, but I’m not sure this is something to worry about too much. You can write a kind, non-pushy email to the teacher asking how placements are made and if there is anything your kid could do to show that algebra is the appropriate placement.
You're in an FCPS thread and in FCPS you need a pass advance on the 7th grade math SOL to take algebra in 7th
+1
In the same position (in FCPS) and there is no question how placements are made, it is explicit that a student have certain threshold scores on IAAT and math SOL. So while I have never really acred about SOL scores for elementary, this is one people have a reason to care anout.
+1 OP here. This is exactly why I want to know.
Do kids who qualify for Algebra 1 get notified before the last day? And if there is no notification would that mean that they have not qualified?
