It's possible to get a transmission rebuilt which should be cheaper than a total replacement but I can't think of anyone to recommend.

Good luck you.

No, I have never had an issue with transmission until last night.

I have a 2013 Pathfinder and I also need a new transmission. Sadly it’s a known problem with them. I’m still not sure if I’m going to shell out the $5k plus.

What year? Did you rebuild it or replaced it? What did that cost you?

I like my pathfinder when it's working but it's just never ending repairs... . Always one thing after another. I may change my mind tomorrow but maybe it's time to let it go. Shame because I've always kept it serviced pretty well.

Yeah, I am assuming it's completely gone. I am more upset that I didn't notice the oil on the driveway when I pulled my car out yesterday. I am usually pretty good noticing those things but clearly not yesterday. My shop guy says he can't check it out until tomorrow or so.

I am pretty sure it's not the alternator. I am 99% sure it's transmission related based on oil leaks and how car acted yesterday. What I don't know if whether this means (most likely) transmission is completely gone or not. Any signficant changes, I'll probably donate the car. Don't want to spend thousands fixing or replacing it. Thanks for the guess though.

Sounds like it's completely gone, but maybe you will get lucky if they can patch the leak.

Did the engine sieze or the car just wasn’t changing gears? What make/model? Age?

When I left home yesterday, I felt slight slip in gear but I thought I ran over something and didn't think much about it. When I noticed the car was really slow picking up speed from stop lights. then when I got on I-95, it was getting bad real fast and eventually in about 20 miles, it wouldn't go. RMP was going ups-and-downs then I had to pull over. Pathfinder 2005) w/ 105k.

Does sound like transmission. Sorry, but the car is probably not worth fixing at almost 18 years old.

FYI I had to replace the transmission six months ago in my 2016 GM SUV and it was $7000.
