My son is seeking a more challenging play environment, but again we don't have any familiarity with the coaches at either club with offers. He was also offered to stay on the current team next year, but there will be a new coach for that team too, that we don't know. So no matter what it's a new coach for him.

BRYC is definitely in for a challenge in ECNL-R, at least for boys. You don't normally see scores like that for U15 and U16 ages.

Yes, ECNL-RL is more competitive that NCSL, but for how long? VPSL keeps adding clubs to NOVA's ECNL-RL. Looks like a lot of former CCL clubs are moving to ECNL-RL.

I agree with your assessment, ECNL-R looks like a lot like CCL. Mostly small clubs best teams against big clubs 2nd best team. To me the only point of ECNL-R is to allow VA schools to continue to play high school soccer during the spring instead of the fall like 95% of the USA 😎

I am not familiar with that BRYC coach.

Assuming the club isn't a bottom feeder in the ECNL-R, that is your choice. Sounds like it could be BRYC, with all the turmoil and change this year I'm not sure if that is a good option or not. Might be better than staying at Loudoun Black though. Hard to see a pathway to ECNL from there. Maybe the BRYC folks can provide some feedback.

Find your new teams league and tournament record online and compare.

Thanks for the input. The C Team currently plays NCSL Div 1 and is in the top half of the bracket. I honestly don't know much about the coaches for the other 2 teams. They are further than the current team which is our closest team, however there seems to be other local boys for carpooling options. The ECNL-R team is a new team; prior to this the club just had ECNL which my son did not make. It is his goal to get to ECNL and make the high school team next year which is competitive.

For 2008s in ECNL-R, Vilarreal is terrible and Stafford isn't good (but I'm guessing that isn't one of the teams you are considering). The others a pretty competitive with each other. Not too sure about new teams joining. The good thing about ECNL-R is all the league games are within northern virginia.

+1 All things being equal, my understanding is that ECNL-R may be a higher level of competition than NCSL; also a B team in ECNL-R is likely going to face stiffer challenges than a C team in NCSL. But that's all things being equal ... the coach and club distance certainly are major factors to consider as well.

My U14 son is currently on a C team in NCSL in a large area club. He is looking to join a more competitive team as he gets ready to move to high school next year. He tried out for 2 other clubs and received offers to play on both of those clubs B-teams. One team plays CCL and the other is ECNL-R. Any feedback?
