We don't have an oak tree shirt, so there's that.

My DD needs to do something like write a letter advocating for something to someone in a position of authority in order to complete one step of a Girl Scout badge. So my reaction would be that another kid must be trying to do the same thing!

From your title I thought this thread about a different kind of pride celebration. I was so confused.

What is there to feel anything about?

I wouldn’t feel anything. If I remembered it was happening and we owned the shirt already, I’d ask DD if she wanted to wear it. And then I’d go on with my day.

I honestly would not think anything of it. Why would this bother you?

Why are you upset about this? Why do you think it as anything to do with "parent politics"?

Seems like a waste of time, why not ask for a day when they can have each class plant an oak tree. You don’t need principal permission to wear a shirt with a tree on it, that’s just stupid

Does your school not have spirit week occasionally?

Sounds nice. Is there an issue with it?

Wouldn’t care and my kids never do those dress up days.

It wouldn’t faze me.

Is Oak Tree the name of your kid's school?

I wouldn't really "feel" anything about it. My kids rarely participate in the "spirit day" events anyway. Just seems unnecessary, but if other kids want to do it, let them.

How would you feel if a student at your child's school wrote a letter to the principal and asked if they could have an official Oak Tree School day where all the kids in the school wear oak tree shirts aside from the usual random Fridays where they do this anyway?

This happened at the school my kids are attending.

Smart? Cool? Annoying? Parent politics?
